Re: 4.3GL One Cylinder Zero Compression!

To echo the earlier comments drop the heads off at the machine shop and have them checked out. If the valve stuck open and the piston hit it, it's likely that valve is bent. For the couple of hundred bucks to have the machine shop go through and freshen them up I wouldn't think twice about it. As for concerns over piston damage or a strike mark on it, it's hard to tell from the pictures just how severe the damage is. It's very possible that despite contacting the valve the piston is still serviceable. If in doubt I would recommend speaking with the machinist about this when you drop the heads off. You might even take the boat over to let him look at the piston and render his opinion as he will have a better view and more experience.

That #4 piston looks like an oddball? Like it doesn't match the other pistons, and it looks like the piston crown is broken off in 2places one on each side? Unless, the pix are deceiving?

Mikdee, I zoomed in thinking the same thing and what looks like damage is the reflection off the cylinder wall.

Alrighty then, get your manifolds, and heads checked out, and you're good to go then!
