Hi all,

I'm working on my 89 Regal with a 4.3L (92) Anywho, I have the new short block in place of the one that cracked (age). I inserted my outdrive alignment tool and she slid right in with a little resistance. (I can't do it with a finger, I have to grip the bar with one hand and push it in.) It got too dark by the time I was ready to make any needed adjustments or read the grease, but I did rotate the engine 90 degrees 4 times and it slid in easily each time.

I can make final adjustments with no problem, but should I install the heads and manifolds first? Would that extra weight not affect the engine alignment? Or am I over thinking it?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Re: 4.3L A1 Engine Alignment

I would align the engine in a fully built form rather than just at the short block level. It should be close, but it would also be nice to know for sure once all of that extra weight is on the engine mounts, etc.
