4.3L electric Fuel pump fittings

My new engine (4.3L - Carb) lacks provision for a mechanical fuel pump so an electric one is required. A Carter P61122 as used on '92 - '94 Mercruiser/OMC/VP carb/TBI engines and should be ideal for my requirement.

However, the needed fittings are not readily available. I believe the pump inlet is a 9/16 - 18 female connector. The threads are straight - NOT tapered so pipe fittings are out. The outlet is similar but 3/8 - 24 size. There is no inverted flare surface etc. so sealing will have to be via 'O' ring or copper washer at the end.

I was given the following mercury marine part numbers without further description or any dimensions.

fitting 1 with oring: 8058027A1
Grommet: 13467
Grommet 2: (other end) 817491
fitting 2 with o-ring: 805026A1

Can anyone provide additional info on these parts or recommend others that will work?

Thanks.

Your part number for fitting 1 with oring should be -805027A1.

Additional information, other than the Merc part numbers is not listed in the part diagrams. You will also need the pipes associated with the new pump. One form the filter to the pump, and one from the pump to the carby.

Thanks for the correction to that part #. Do you know what type of connection these adapters mate to?
You mentioned pipes. Can I assume a flared tube type of connection? Size?

Thanks

I have never looked closely into the fittings themselves. I'm sure they will be a 'standard' of one variety or another, possibly NPTF (NPT parallel). As for the flare, no idea, again never needed to look into it. USCG regulations require hard pipe between engine mounted filters, pumps and carbies. The line from the tank to the engine (be it via an externally mounted filter or to an engine mounted filter) can be USCG approved flexible.

Size? Only guessing but I would think around 3/8".

Not so Chris. USCG regs allow type A1 rubber line from pump to carb. I had always heard the only hard (metal) line could be used, but I looked it up and found it to be not true. The rule concerning the filer is that it needs to be hard mounted - an in line unsupported filter is not allowed.

Thanks for clearing that up Mark. As I don't live anywhere the U.S. I use just parroting someone here. Or did I read it in a Mercruiser manual? Not sure, but thanks anyway....
