4.3L to 5.0L

So...
the 4.3 has water in the crank case...

found a line on a fresh 5.0...


I have a 2000 regal 1900 LSR...

first any idea if it'll fit? the 4.3 is tight side to side but has room front to back.

second, will this require different gears in the outdrive?

anything that I'm leaving out...

please feel free to toss in your own ideas.

The width will be the same and just one hole longer on each side. All the acc. mounted on the front will swap over as well.

New motor mounts (may require re-working the stringers).

May require a gear change, depends on the HP differance. (May get by with a prop change.)

New fuel lines.

New manifolds, risers.

Pretty sure I've seen those 1900's with v8's as optional power.

not sure but i think the wirring harness may be different,as in not long enough to get where it needs to be.

Same wiring harness will likely work.

front mounts will need to come forward just about 3 inches (easy if there's room to just move them on the stringers), everything off the front of the engine should work

If you're going to do a 5.0, might as well do a 5.7 though...

Drive ratio would be different, but you can get a different prop to address that.

well... decided moving to the v-8 5.0L isnt worth doing so we are going to go back to a 4.3 and switch from a 2barrel carb to the 4 barrel and keep a better power:weight ratio...

yeah its a vortec....

the hull is a 2000 model but it seems the motor is a '99...

Is there a classified section or anything like that here on iboats?...


looking for a 4barrel intake and carb.
