This may sound dumb and if so SORRY, but is there a chance it could be the choke?? I had a Nautique that I bought brand new and I had a heck of a time starting it just as you mentioned and it last all of the first summer of owning it. Turns out the choke was not working, but after it was fixed it started fine and never had the problem again. Just a thought..........................
