4.5 hp mercury 1975

I just replaced my waterpump and exhaust gaskets. Now water is leaking from where the spark plug is. Any suggestions on what the problem could be.

When the engine over heated it damaged the cyl cover gasket from heat replace it

Be careful when removing the cover bolts, if they don't come out with normal force they're probably frozen in. To keep from breaking them, heat up with a propane or MAPP torch until they come loose. It may help to use some penetrant such as PB Blaster.

The gasket should be readily available at the Merc dlr or pick up a chunk of gasket paper at the local auto parts store and make your own.

I changed the gasket and everything is running great. thanks for your help
