4.5hp merc dripping gunk from hole ? Please help !!!! See picture !!!

Hi, not sure if it's normal or not, I have never had a boat before and bought this motor. It runs good... starts up fine, just drips oil from a little hole on the back and from the prop after i take it out of the bucket of water ? The oil substance is black/brown in colour. Also the water is brown after running it in a garbage bucket. One note I may add, is that the motor was lying down for at least a year before I started it in a bucket, then apon takeing it out it was ouzing the gunk. Hope someone can give me answers, I wanna take it out for the first time sunday.

Yep your the proud owner of a 2 stroke! Just keep your oil/gas mixture consistent (should be 50-1) I'd say your good to go!! Have fun.

The only thing that should come out of there is water.
I Would install a New water pump impeller soon, if you have no idea since it was replaced. Good Insurance.
Have you checked the lower end fluid for water.(milky)
Nice little motors.

there's actually another hole that the water comes out of. This one looks like its some type of a drain hole.

Actually, that hole is the exhaust relief.

It can. Do a compression test if you are concerned.
