69 22" stracraft islander w/120 mercruiser, dry is something like 1950 lb's.
loaded an additional 600 to 1000 lb's i guess.
would this prop work ok or not?
if not what would be a good general prop?
thanks.

Alumi, I show a total all up weight of about 2,500 pounds, with a gear ratio of 1.98:1. If these figures are right I show you need a 23" pitch prop and you should do about 40 MPH if your motor is still strong.

If I am reading your post right, are you pushing a 22 foot boat, a 23 in prop is going to be really slow out of the hole with a 120 hp motor.

Rob, if my information is right it is a 21' boat weighing about 1,500 pounds bare hull with motor. That is the specs for an aluminum 3 blade prop, not a 4 blade Alumi.

robjen this is an aluminum hull vs glass and will be much lighter.
but not going to second guess any advise so am all ears.
the plate by the helm says 22 but the specs here say 21 so it's one or the other.
think really something like 21'7" give or take.
thanks all.

Re: 4 blade 14.5x18 ???

that's why i'm redoing this boat, aluminum.
this is the wave of the future, recyclable products.
glass not being has had it's day and it's toxic.
i worked in recycling most of my life, steel production.
starcraft was way ahead of it's time.
i think wood boats will and are making a come back.
my son and also my father in law are getting ready to build wood boats.
father in laws is a pirogue and son wants to do a skiff.
i'd kinda like to do an old clamming boat as i have the hardware form an old one.
that brass prop sure looks good.
thanks again for the help on a prop.
