Any good or bad things to say about using 4 blade composite props on 90 HP 2 strokes. The boat is a 17' whaler.

captain,

No issues with a four blade, as long as you reach your rated rpm.

I'll say this though, if you even think about hitting anything, you'll shear off a blade or two in a snap.

Keep an aluminum or stainless prop on board to get you home.

Sounds like good advice in any case. The prop in question is on a whaler I am thinging about buying. It has a kicker, but nothing like having a spare prop to get home in a hurry!

Thanks

Two good things on the composite prop it protects the drive train and you can buy about 3 for the price of one aluminum. You could cover three
performance ranges for the price of one.
I think it was the comprop site that said
performance is very close to alumunum.
Of course it was their prop they were talking
about so they might exagerate a little (wink)
