My new to me 1985 Thundercraft Magnum Express has a 4 blade prop on it. What are the pro's/con's of such a thing? All my other boats have had 3 blade props

Re: 4 blade prop

4 blades helps with holeshot. Sometimes the top mph will suffer due to the extra drag of the additional blade... but if it's stainless, that may offset any negative effects at wot. Personally i think the 4 blade props are the way to go. I have a Solas ss 4 blade on my glastron and i had a Solas 4 blade ss on my singray. Hope this helps.

A 4 blade can also stay on plane better at reduced throttle and improve handling at the dock.

These are all good things, so the only real drawback is at the top end. My lake is notoriously weedy, do you think that can be a problem for the extra blade?
