4 blade vs. 3 blade

175 Johnson came with 2 props. What is the performance difference be 3 and 4 bladed props.

If both props are the same pitch, you will notice slighlty less vibration, better midrange cruise speed, a little flatter turning, but with more cavitation on hard turns with the four blade.<br />I run about the same top end speed,(56mph) but turn about 100 RPM's less. Thats my findings after switching from the stock aluminum 3 blade, to a Solas Amita 4 blade aluminum. Thats on a Glastron 195SX with a 220HP 5.0 GL Volvo

For those boats that run 2 props, usually the 4 blade is for tow sports such as wakeboarding, towing towables, and water skiing. That's because it grips well on hard turns.<br /><br />The 3 blade will likely have a higher top end speed...assuming that both props are ideal for your boat.
