4 cly 2 stroke 40hp mariner drinking alot of gas

I am wondering if anybody knows if I can rejet the carbs to get better gas mileage? The motor runs great and idles down nice but is using alot of gas.

Have to ask----How much is too much and what are you comparing it to ?

4 gallons of fuel per hour at wide open throttle is normal. Jetting down will lean the fuel oil mix and you then wonder why the engine seized.

Do not touch the jetting, if you want better MPG get a new EFI motor.
