I have a model 4306C Evinrude 4HP (serial E0007176) built in 1973 that I'm tuning-up. What I would like to know is what is the gap setting on the contact points, and what is the gap for the spark plugs? (I'm using Champion J6C plugs) And is there a source for getting reprints of the original manuals? Also, what is the fuel to oil ratio that I should use for this motor?

Many thanks!

Points set to .020, to be set when the flywheel key is aligned with the fiber rubbing portion of the points.

Plugs set to .030 (J6C plugs are correct).

Mixture is to be 50/1

Gearcase uses HiVis (80/90w) lube (Wal*Mart, K-Mart, etc)

Many, Many, thanks. Should I put any lubricant on the cam for the points? I see that there is a felt pad...

New points comes with a new lubricated pad. If using the old one, one drop of oil would be fine.

Thanks for the help. I grew-up in Winter Haven, which mustn't be far from where you are. :)
