4 wheeler started smoking bad.

I'm kinda a mechanic but just wondering options before taking apart in a few weeks( money on boat). My 2004 400cc yamaha big bear just started smoking very bad for no reason. Piston rings when they go motor lets out gradual small puffs of smoke and with time gets worse. But in my case no smoke at all, just one big black carbon puff of smoke (buddy saw behind me) now its madness...I'm thinking valve seal let go and valve stem has ware letting more oil in. Lots of compression with just pull starting feal. I put synthetic oil in it about 2 weeks before this happen..could that of messed piston rings?

Oh Yes I recall!!!!!!

I'll say the same thing I said on the other thread, it had to of had some kind of reason to start smoking.

My bet is on a valve too.... :redface:

You changed to synthetic? Do you check w/Yamaha? If it was oil meant to be in the wheeler.... your okay but, if it was just synthetic you might end up with transmission problems. I use gn4 in all the wheelers both my son's yamaha and both of my suzuki's.

Agree. If carbed, look for a stuck float. If FI, look at air meter sensor.

2 stroke or 4? 2 stroke there is a seal between the pre- compression (crank case) and tranny that could have been damaged by synth oil. I had a yamaha 400 2 stroke that blew this seal often.

And black=gas

Banned because he keeps coming back under different usernames and starting trouble, seemed like mainly with me for a while. Sending me pms with all types of stupid stuff. He's only been doing it for a half a year now if not longer.

I would personally love to see him banned from the internet for life and slapped with a hefty fine, it can happen to a hacker.
