Re: 40 amp flywheel?

Hey thanks a million . That just made my problem harder to find . My problem is when I changed my 2.4 flywheel due to magnets coming unglued . I changed it out with my 2.5 flywheel and found my idle rpm goes up . With 2.4 flywheel idle rpm is 1000 when i change it over to the 2.5 flywheel the idle races to 300rpm . What am I missing?

Re: 40 amp flywheel?

I didn't do anything for your problem. It's your problem.

I'm assuming the flywheels look the same and you didn't put a 40amp flywheel where a 16 amp was. I'm also assuming that you pulled the flywheel off the crank and not at the flex plate, as most 40 amp flywheels don't have a flex plate.

The magnets that drive the ignition are in the hub part of the flywheel, and their position is critical to timing. Of course if you change the flywheel, you can change the timing. Idle speed is set by timing at fully closed throttle.

In other words, after the change, you need to do a link-n-sync.

hope it helps

Re: 40 amp flywheel?

Most 2.5 40 amp flywheels are "green" and 1 piece design the 2.4 came as a 1 and 2 piece with the 2 piece being "red" and a flex plate design (these are lighter than the 1 piece wheels). Like J posted ,are you sure its a 40 amp system???
