40 h.p. johnson super sea horse?

does anyone know anything about these engines? the block and water jacket look the same as my '60 evinrude big twin lark 2 40 h.p.? are they good engines? any advice to resurrect it? been sitting 2 or so years.....any help or info greatly appreciated! thanks in advance! best forum in the world!

Sure, there are a lot of those things still around and running. Restoration depends on condition that could be anything from complete and running to junker. I have a junker.

Yep, the old Lark 40's and super seahorse 40's are the same engine, just a few cosmetic differences. They're great motors and very reliable, plus they're easy to work on. I've had a few of these and often found them easy to put back in service.:cool:
