Re: 40 hp Evinrude 1968 water pump
If it is like mine(a 64 40hp evinrude, selectric) then there is to parts to the tail. The lower portion houses the gears and the upper has the water pump and drive shaft. There is a back cover that unscrews off the back of the motor and then there are some bolts holding the upper portion on. Just unbolt them and it will drop. The water pump is on the drive shaft.<br />If your motor is different I have some info coming with all old evinrude motors up to 40hp in it. When i get it I will tell you what it says.<br />Jimmy
