Re: 40hp 1994 force

Probably not much help but my 1996 Force 40 HP has two or three ports below the cowl and water sputters out of it and it's hard to see so I added a tale-tell to solve that problem. I have a stick steer and that makes it harder to see with the distance and rear seat.

I'm not sure either but I think water comes out by prop till thermostat opens. Probably best to put in a tell tale line too. That way you always have water circulating and you can see it better.

Re: 40hp 1994 force

The two holes below the cowl on the back of the motor are the "idle relief exhaust" holes. Water and exhaust should sputter out of them only at idle or low RPM's. Under these conditions, the normal exhaust exit by the propeller is deeper thus creating more back pressure. Once you get on plane, the back pressure is reduced and the exhaust exits by the prop and you shouldn't see anything coming out of the two small holes below the cowl.
