im looking for overall dimensions for these motors
late 70's to recent. i have now a 1960 40hp and am looking to upgrade but im afraid of how much bigger these engines are front to back (powerhead)

bombardiers site doesnt have them like hondas does.

specifically im looking for the dimension from the tilt axis to the front of the motor and from the tilt axis to the top of the engine, the width would be alright too.

anyone with any info would be great.

Sorry, I can't help you with any dimensions.

But why are you concerned about the physical size of a newer motor?

At one time I owned an early 60's 75 Johnson, and if you tilted it too far up, it would actually hit in the splash well. Don't think I have ever seen this on a newer motor.

im concerned i guess because the new motor looks a bit longer in the power head and im concerned i will have the problem you had, but with the newer motor. not to mention this is going on a wooden boat i built myself and i really dont want to hack into the wood in the back if i dont have to.
i guess ill just buy it and make it work, i just thought id throw this one out there and see what i got, just doesnt hurt to know what youre getting into sometimes
