Re: 40HP prop selection

Thanks for the help Paul. I'll see what kind of RPMs I come up with and let you know.

Re: 40HP prop selection

just out of interest, what is the max RPM that the old evinrudes are meant to run?

I know that later model engines can run to 6000, but my factory manual says 5000. (my manual is for 1971)

For the Big Twins, it's been 4000-5000 since the '56 30hp. I don't think they ever bumped up the 43.9CI engine, even late in the 70s.
I forgot to mention, the pulses are negative. :)
(and this has got me back on to that project. I just fitted the 4hp with a test lead. I've been meaning to build a "black box" so we can use a modern tach)

I have some pulse shaping circuits that you might be interested in, electronics is my occupation.

Well, it's just a hobby for me. So I'm a little out of my league especially with analog stuff.

I'll post a new topic tomorrow with what I've got so far and where I would like to go. I really could use some opinions & advice from people who know this stuff better than me.
