I've finally got the lightfour running, that I got from dad -4389-00097. It was not getting spark on the upper cylinders, but a broken wire to the back coil solved it. It was last running in the 50's.
The head is cracked around one of the water tube ports, but seems like some JB weld would work - doesn't seem to affect the compression in the lower cylinder.
The armature handle was broken at some point and riveted/welded back together, but the wiring to the cutout switch was not redone. The points, coil and condenser wires are tied together (separate for each pair) under the armature plate.
Do these wires just lead to the insulated contacts under the copper spring, which in turn is grounded? I have not gotten the screws loose from the copper spring to have a look under yet.
Also for the prop - it seems a bit loose on the shaft at inside, and the rubber(?) in between the outer prop and shaft sleeve seems to have been heated or at least hardened. Should the prop sleeve have any play on the shaft?
Thanks
