Hi, any thoughts on how I should proceed on this problem Im having. When the 1990 23 ft 454 naturally aspirated wellcraft bobs in the lake wave action for up to an hr it wont start without full throttle and of course when it does kick over its high rev start.I would just consider hard to start. Im sure the carb is not doing its job. This problem has progressivly been getting worse. The engine starts great when cold and runs smooth, idles fine otherwise. just not sure how the bobbing is affecting the carb.
thanks jim

Ayuh,.... Yer carb should be the Qudrajet, or possibly the Merc/ Weber AFB,.....

Both can develop float bowl leaks, which yer symptoms says is happenin',....
A carb rebuild should fix the issue,....
The bowl leaks can be dealt with at the same time,....

well I had a carb shop rebuild the Qjet, and it starts fine except when in chop or 2-3 ftrs. It still requires a full throttle to fire up. When its sitting at a dock, it starts with no throttle advance. Is this to be expected in wave action with engine off ? thanks for any input
