Docked the boat 12m ago, running fine. Now one motor is frozen/locked wont spin. Starter eengages but no spin. Put a breaker bar on crank bolt (balancer)!stood on it and no movement. Motors r coning out but would like to get it started and moved under own power to new home where motor swap will happen. 50mi away. Thoughts on how to free motor? Could it b a trany issue?

Don't take anything apart on your engine until you pull your drive. I know that doesn't help you moving the boat but often the reason a motor won't crank is because the drive is seized.

Of course I am assuming you have a sterndrive but not sure what you have.

Its an inboard, im admittedly not very versed on on inboard drive systems. I am able to rotate the shaft that penetrates the hull, headed to the prop when the shifter is in neutral , so dont think its a fowled prop. But not sure how the gear system worksa aft of the fly wheel to enable fwd and reverse. Appears to be hyd, does it have a tourque converter? So I lnow engines, inside and out but im lost on the drive mexhaniam.

Is the motor connected to an outdrive or transmission?

If motors are coming out anyway, maybe driving it over on one motor is your next step anyway.

Yes can rotate the prop

Well then you done, the engine is locked up. You could pour some oil in the cylinders and let it sit a day, and try again. My guess is your not going to break it loose, and if it does break loose it probably won't run for long if it actually does run.

A 50 mile trip is a long way on one engine of a two engine boat. Maybe a safety boat if you have to go that route

Argh... :(
Not what i want to hear but what i think its what ibexpected to hear.. Thanks for the input. 50mi on one engine would not only take forever but wouldnt be safe! Was hoping i could free it up and make a run for it
with a tow boat as back up. Oh well.
Thanks again!
