46-807151 Water Pump Impeller Bad...Case Question?

Pulled my circulator pump apart last night, the impeller obviously needs to be replaced. My question is, is the surrounding case supposed to be oblonged or oval as shown, or are they circular? Not sure if the case overheated and deformed or if thats the design. Want to make sure before I just buy a rebuild.

That is not the circulation pump, that is the raw/sea water pump. The pump housing is also trashed, but it is supposed to be oval. The bottom surface of the housing is supposed to be flat also.

Now for the questions. I see in a couple of your other posts that you have a new drive, squeeling noise, and put muffs on the drive.Problem is, is this pump is an engine driven pump, and from the looks of it it was run without water.
Putting 2 and 2 together, is this your squeeling noise? Do you have a through hull pickup for this pump that you DID NOT put water to when you ran it?

The depris you see on the housing are small peices of the impeller, I'm probably buying the whole housing/impeller kit though.

Yes its an external pickup, and yes I had one hose to the muffs, and one to the external pickup. But agreed it seems like that wasn't sufficient.

The squealing noise was the "sea water pickup" being locked up and slipping the belt around its pully.
