With a v6 4.3 engine mount kit (in your case)
These engine mounts bolt on to the side of the block and than on top of the engine frame.
You can see in my picture the raised sections on either side of the frame where the engine mounts rest on and bolt on to.

Your boat has stringers of some sort for hull strength, below is a picture of a boat I repowered from a 6 cylinder diesel to a 4 cylinder. The new engine had the mounts in different locations and we had to glass in some new pads for the motor mounts to set on.
The mounts are just lag bolted to the pads with 1/2" Lag bolts about 3" long.

Re: 470 swap to 4.3L

By the way,

Not to make this a 3.7l bashing party....(there's plenty of that elsewhere), But your worst choice would be to try to rebuild/replace the 3.7L engine.

Since there's still people out there that want to do that, you can part-out that engine(including the 4" heat exchanger if it has it), drive and other components for a fair amount of money to help pay for what you're doing......

Then, maybe buy yourself the right (ratio) SEI drive once you have the engine in and ready to go for a pretty nice package.

Hope you're enjoying Iraq......I think I'd like to go back to Kirkuk and buy a vacation condo!! The weather is pretty nice there this time of year........:p

Cheers,

Rick

Ok you have the head, and that is all you need to get the 3.7 running? If that is the case, may I sugest that you forget the whole engine swap thing. I looked into it for my 3.7 and it was WAY too much time, trouble and cost, especially for a 20+ year old boat. The 3.7 is not a bad little engine if you can get it running right. You won't gain that much power with the V6 and you will add about 200 pounds to the back of the boat. Replacing the head is an afternoon's work, while the engine replacement could take half the summer. My advice (for what little it's worth) would be to get it running, sell it and get what you want. In the meantime good luck, and be safe.
