Pull motor pull apart inspect. Even if you free it up chances are it will never run and be reliable.Valve seats will be rusted cylinder walls pited rings seized to pistons. Water in a motor for any period of time Dickers it.

I'm afraid this could end up being what happens. I'm on the fence if I fix this boat or part it out. I know the value of the parts well exceeds the value as a boat...but my heart just isn't in parting it out. The hull is just too nice. It's too bad I can't get my son interested, as I know it would be a fun project together...he's just to involved in friends and video games 😔

We don't know why it won't turn over. We don't know if there's water in the cylinders. Figure out why it's sticking.

I did see visible rust in number 4 cylinder. Enough so top of piston is rusty looking. I couldn't see cylinder walls though. Boat is in neutral, but I do intend to pull drive this weekend. Balancer doesn't even wiggle.

I'm not saying that it's the case. I'm not there and can't see but it don't sound good. Pull the drive and starter if it's still tight pull the engine if the hull is good and solid rebuild or replace it who knows maybe you could get your son interested. It took me a bit but mine is coming around..

Starter will come off tomorrow. Drive this weekend. I agree, probably pulling engine out. Closest place around here to get something bored is about 100 miles. Hopefully I can hone it and clean or rering it. I'll post my findings.

Before pulling the motor I'd pull the head off to assess the damage (might not be that bad), have it checked for cracks, get a valve job done and resurface. If cylinder 4 is seized the piston is junk and the cylinder wall is pitted. Look for a short block on eBay. I would double check those manifold and riser, they're the most likely reason why you got water/rust in cylinder 4. And just a heads up, be sure that unless you get very lucky you will spend a decent amount of money before a dead 470 is running "reliably". Good luck

Ok, gently turned motor backwards today and it poped free easily. So I left it at that. I got a call from someone who wants to buy it. If it doesn't sell, I'm going to pop head and bring this thing back to life...
