Hi again guys!

I went to tilt my motor (manual tilt) when I pulled the lever, SNAP!! So now the little plastic housing that connects the cable to the ball on the lever is broke. I was able to get a screw driver in there and pull the cable up and get the trim to where I think it should be during most of my boating. Now I cant seem to get the cable to move with the screw driver trick again, but at least its in opperating position. It sure would be nice to fix it so I can use it!!

Any tips/advice? Engine need removed from swivel bracket??

Is it manual or do you have a TouchTrim system?

If it's TouchTrim, clicking the thumbnails below may help.

Sorry, its a 1992 Evinrude 48SPL. It looks similar to the touch trim - kinda. It has a lever on the right side that I pull aft to release, then manually tilt to where I want then push lever forward. Its just that the opposite end of the lever where the cable attaches is between the tilting motor bracket and the fixed bracket - kinda sandwiched between them - very hard to get to!

Maybe you have HYDRAULIC ASSIST

it isnt the old standard manual and it isnt power tilt and trim.

Perfect Bob! And Thank You!!! Yes, it is that. It has a hyd cyl mounted. And the cable goes in a big "S" shape from the lever to the hyd cyl. Its broke at the end where the cable attaches to the lever arm - way up in the hinge point. Im affraid I may need to pull the engine to access (

I had a 50 hp with that set up and it got stuck twice..., but i took it to a mechanic...

he said you could pull the pivot pin at the bottom of the hydraulic cylinder to allow raising the motor out of the way to access your problem spot...

sounds easier than it probably is!!!!

this is where a factory manual on the year you have pays for itself!!

i am sure they ahve a troubleshooting section and they show how to take that unit off as well...i am betting

good luck
