4hp merc not pumping water

I have searched and searched threads in order to not re-post but could not find an answer to my question. so, first, I apologize if I have re-posted. I tried not to

I have taken my 4hp merc apart 4 times and i am only getting hot air pumping out the water hole up under engine. I am about ready to do a cranky fit!! I am going to attach pix in hopes that someone can advise me. The pix of pump is with a brand new impeller. Is the impeller installed the right way? I did put the key way in on the shaft.

thank you for the reply. i did have the tube out to put new seal in and check for leaks. is 100% silicone what i should use for tube? will try the drill and let you know.

okay, got her all back together. I am pretty sure that I didn't have the pin in properly and it wasn't turning. Also, pick up tube may not have been sitting into the base of pump right. Will let you know. Thanks. I am sure getting good at taking this darn thing apart and putting it back together!! Learning lots

YAY!!! THANKS SOOO MUCH FOR THE ADVICE. She's spitting water but good and runs like a top. True test will be at the lake. Thanks again!!
