I'm guessin' PFD's aren't required on that kinda vehicle eh? Wonder how she handles in a blow or runnin' an inlet!!!

I used to do the same with my 3 wheeler all the time. Float it across small canals to go where I wanted. Water would come to the top of the front rim and bottoms of the rear rims.

But i dont think none of the vehicles on these pictures are really floating. I think they weight too much to float on just their tires.

Those RWD vehicles have vents on their pumpkins. Hopefully, they are extended up above the water line with a hose because the diff is definitely under water.

Re: 4x4 used as boat

I remember back in my childhood the local monster truck shop built a yellow el camino into a lifted truck frame. Was meant to be a car crusher but it was too light to even pop the windows most of the time.

Anyway, they decided to put it in the st. croix river to go for a Guiness record with it. They traveled a few miles on the giant tires.

Then they got a citation for having an unlicensed watercraft :)

Here's a good one of my Jeep in a water hole (33" tires, 4" lift) A few seconds after that shot I hit a rut and dipped my hood under also. Made it out of this one no problem.

And yes all my vents are raised including the tranny.

Re: 4x4 used as boat

When i saw this post i thought I was going to see someone with a piece of wood. It says "4x4 used as boat". Was it pressure treated 4x4, or just a regular one? One time i saw a guy use a 2x6 as a boat! he had a bunch of them and they were all held together with some tie-downs!
