Hi

I have a 1993 OMC Cobra which has a mechanical fuel pump (Carter)
I managed to mangle one of the 90 degree male / female elbows when fitting a new pump (See picture)

Im trying to find the same fitting but cant seem to find them anywhere ( Im in the U.K. )
I know the internal bore is 1/4" but the fuel pump side (Male) is a different size to the female side
I also know that the fuel pumps usually have a 1/4" NPT fitting and I believe the female side is possibly a BSP thread.

Any one got any ideas where I might find one of these brass fittings?

Not sure about in the UK....but over here in the U.S. we can go to our local auto/hardware store to locate something like that. Not sure about the BSP part...maybe someone over there switched it so they could use a BSP end hose.

You could try Grainger.com they have all kinds of fittings.

Good luck!

Hi

Thanks for the replies.
Heres the photo of the hose end that screws into the female section.
I haven't found any O rings in these fittings but the pipe end is flared stainless tube.

I am certain the brass elbow is 1/4" NPT male and the female is bigger and a different thread
So Im looking for a 90 degree elbow that will convert from 1/4"npt male to whatever the other fitting is (Pipe end)

Ive been to a couple of Automotive / diesel specialists and a hydraulic hose company - No luck so far!
Also I now own a 1/4" to 1/4" 90 elbow which is a perfect fit one end!!

Really struggling to find anywhere in the UK to supply this.
Anyone have any ideas?

Or is it USA Only?

If you want to get an exact replacement and that one is not useful anymore, mail it to someone in the states who lives in a big city and see if they can match it up.

I live in Los Angeles. I would do it for you if you want to go that way. How soon do you need this?

UK, USA or China, those flare fittings are common on and can be supplied at any auto parts shop. I have seen that same stuff on British cars and on my old Volvos.

Bruceb - thanks for the offer, I will try and find one here in the UK first.
I'm off to try some other automotive suppliers later today so we will see how that works out!

Ok, so automotive supplies dont stock them
Hydraulic supplies dont stock them
Marine engineering supplies dont stock them
So I went to a marine engineering workshop and they tried to re tap the thread for me, but they used the wrong size tap!
Ive just ordered a 402x6 fitting online from the USA some hopefully this will solve my problem.

That doesn't work?
My local Home depot and local Ace has a brass section.
I can look there and send it to you?
Or you can get the piece with pipe thread and a hose barb and put a piece of hose in it's place.

Sure appreciate the offers.
Lets see what happens with the one Ive ordered.
I would have gone done the barbed hose connector route, however the pipe work from this fitting is in bent stainless tube to the fuel filter. Its still an option but it means changing more fittings.
