I have a '99 Bayliner with a 5.0 Merc I/O, 2bbl. I had to rebuild the carb recently because the shop that winterized it must not have put enough stabilizer in it, or didnt run it long enough to get the stabilizer in the carb. When I tried putting it in the water a few weeks ago, she wouldnt run except under throttle. I pulled the carb and it was pretty gunked up. So I got a kit from my dealer, and cleaned and blew out all the passages. She seemed to run ok when I started it up after bolting the carb back together.
We took it out to the lake today, and she ran well, except it tended to load up at idle, and would eventually die. When we got home, I pulled the covers off, connect the muffs, turned the hose on, and started it up. Noticed that fuel was continually dripping from the accel pump nozels, which would cause it to eventually stall out or stumble and idle rough. I set the float level per the instructions in the rebuild kit. So is the level too high? Or is something else causing this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
