Re: 5.0 mercruiser running hot

did you put the key back in the impeller in the raw water pump?

you have a blockage between the T-stat housing and the water inlet ports on the leg

Ayuh,.... By yer description, it Ain't gettin' no water to pump,... the hose in yer hand, Feeds the circulatin' pump,...

The t-stat housin' must be plugged if yer gettin' water on the other side of it,...

Re: 5.0 mercruiser running hot

if your too lazy to look

generic water flow in an Alpha 1 without a heat exchanger:
from the inlet strainer, the water travels up the casting to the raw water pump. from there it is pressureized. It then flows to the connection at the gimble, from there it travels to the inside the boat and is picked up by the line to the power steering cooler. This is the first major strainer of debris. the raw water flows thru the power steering cooler to the thermostat housing. from the thermostat housing, the water flow is split, half going directly to the exhaust manifolds, then up thru the risers and out the exhaust, the other half joins the water circulating within the block. once it exits the block, it goes thru the exhaust manifolds and thru the risers and out the exhaust.

However for the specific flow path of your motor, look up the appropriate motor in the manuals that Bondo pointed you towards.
