Ahoy Mates,

I have 93 Four Winns w/ the Ford 5.0 and the OMC Cobra out drive.
Having problems in forward where the out drive starts slipping when you take off.
It can also happen at speed if you are lucky enough to get a clean plane out.

Any clues to how to localize the problem?
i.e. upper or lower gear case?
Could this be the gimbal bearing?
Is this something I should try to tackle myself or take it to a dealer / shop?
I've got mech skills, but probably not all the tools I would need.
I have the shop manual and have been viewing some repair videos on you tube.

Any recommendations for an OMC savvy dealers/shops in S.E. Michigan?

Thx - Danno

Is it clunking or revving more than it should? If it is revving and not getting anywhere, it could be the prop. Mark it and see if the hub is spinning. If it is clunking and such, you may have deeper issues requiring someone with much more expertise than mine.
