I have a 1998 5.7 liter merc with 250 hp. The hoses come out of the valve covers, pvc valves? and run up towards the spark arrestor however there are no tubes or connections on the arrestor to hold the hoses in place? There are two flat metal strips with small holes in the center of them and a small flange. Right now one of the hoses is just hanging there and the other one is pushed on over the thin metal strip? Is this the wrong arrestor or do they simply need wire tied or something to the arrestor? The ones in all the catalogs show small tubes to hook the hoses too?

No PVC valves. If memory serves, the stock arrester had metal strips that the hoses pushed over and on. They just need to be close to the fin openings. Post a pic.

Ayuh,... That is the standard factory installation....

They're just vents, not pcv's...

I'll be at the boat tomorrow, I'll take a picture and post it. It can't possibly be correct the way it is....The hoses aren't even hooked to anything.

Ayuh,... Push the other hose onto the other end of the metal strip which should be held by the flame arrester's retainin' nut...
