5.7 Merc fuel pump "cool fuel sytem"

An older gentleman posted a "help" ad on Craigslist. He was asking for help in installing a new fuel pump on a 5.7 Merc SN# OMG0289 with the cool fuel system (?)
He is short an arm as he is an amputee and can't install himself.
I offered to help him out and install it for free, I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff.
Other than being a cartortionist (sp?) Anyting I should know?

Ayuh,... Depending on the Boat, the motor may well have to come Out to do it.....

It's a Maxum 2300..He said he got the old one out with one arm, just cant get the new one on. So I'm thinking pulling the motor isn't necessary Guess I have a leg up, err arm up on him there.
I couldn't imagine being handicapped and not able to turn a wrench...

Those things are a pain to install when the engine is out of the boat, I don't know how you can get both hand in there, and everything lined up, to assemble it back together. I have always had to pull the engine.
Of course I have no idea what room a 2300 Maxum has, and your SN isn't any good either, there is only 1 letter in a Merc SN. example 0M123456

How did that work out? I've got my boat apart now to do the same job, all the seats and deck plate out trying to make working room. I'm done for the day to cool down and let my knuckles quit bleeding.

I wish I could give you some advice, but the guy that needed help well we played phone tag for a week or two then I was out of town. We lost contact with each other.
