Re: 5.7 mercruiser starter problem

well, the p/y wire goes from the alternator to the fuel pump and then is completed with the black ground, but it cuts off and goes in series to the oil pressure switch thereby needing the oil pressure swictch to be closed to get power to the starter; unless the outside starter solenoid terminal is empowered internally which I can not seem to find out. Anyway just trying to get it to crank. though I cleaned all the wires well, I did not clean the engine where the starter bolts to it. This has to be the problem.

working starter. It was the surface of the starter not making good contact. bond-o, can not imagine what you have been through with amost 28000 posts, but hope I was not the worst. Now it is on to easier stuff like swapping out the pistons

Ayuh I said in post #14,... Only while the starter is Engaged....
It gives Full voltage to the accessories as the motor's crankin' on the starter....

I do, but in my (small) mind, I cleaned all the wires and terminals, but not where the starter bolts on and I was trying to rule out the other wires part in this at that point. Maybe my stupidity will help somebody?? Thanks to all
