5.7 with Bravo iii not returning to idle rpm

Hi,

I have a 2000 Maxum 2400 SCR with a 5.7L mercruiser and Bravo iii. The boat runs and starts up great. I am having a strange issue. When I start the boat and it is warmed up, the idle rpm is right where it should be, around 650 rpm. If I advance the power, whether in gear or not, then return to idle, the RPM stays high, around 1100. Any ideas?

It has the 2bbl carb. The idle cam appears to be fine and in the normal position.

Thanks, which cable specifically? Tighten the throttle cable?

remove the black plastic barrel from the rear of the carb, rotate clockwise a few turns, reinstall, test
