Evening,
I've read bits and pieces of information on the fuel delivery system on my 1989 Sea Ray 220 DA with 5.7L (350). However, it was flooding trying to start it up. Just for giggles I threw in a new carb kit and cleaned it out and all is well. Didn't find anything out of the ordinary during this process and no gunk.
However, when I reinstalled and tried to start it, it was flooding badly again. I had my wife crank on it (said a small prayer first) and noticed fuel was coming up the clear line from the fuel pump (not the main fuel line). I figured this was some safety line so when the fuel pump fails it pumps excess into the carb.
Am I right in this assumption with my setup? Also, I live in a small town so is a fuel pump available from auto store?
Thanks!
TF
