Hello. Is there anyone who would know if a Windsor 351 that was fuel injected will run as a carbureted engine? I changed out the intake put new distributor in new carburetor plugs wires it altogether in the boat and will not run. I had major fuel problems from crud in the gas tank and a bad carburetor rebuild but the thing still won’t run even after correcting those problems . It runs great in the driveway. Sounds like a hot rod boat! But once I get halfway across the lake it dies like it’s running out of gas and cannot get it to restart . Any ideas? It is a 1992 Regency. The engine is much newer from another boat. Don’t know what year.

when it dies, reach over the gunwale and open the fuel cap. if you hear air hissing in, then your fuel vent is plugged.

your motor should then run with the fuel cap off enough for you to get back to the dock and service the remainder of your fuel system.

The tank has plenty of ventilation. Can’t get gas from the floor tank anyway. I’m using a smaller tank. Sets next to the engine.

I trust the Distributor and Carb are Marine Certified parts, and not something you found at an auto wrecker, or at the local speed shop for cars
