Why the(&&^%$#@##$%^&*) did they come out with 5 blade razors? Use em twice and they are shot! Can't trim mustache with em Can't trim side burns. If you don't shave for 2 days they clog up. they cost a lot. I wish they would go back to 1 blade ones. Or at the most 2 blade. And then they have the gaul to tell us how wonderful they are. And up the price again! I know! I know! now they have one with 5 blades and another blade on the other side for trimming, 6 BLADES!! Good god! Are we really that stupid? Well people thanks for letting me vent my spleen. I fell a little better now that I'v done my ranting. It's sunny out and -20 think I'll go out and light the firepit and have a beer. One for you too.

Re: 5 blade razors

Thanks for that LD, I feel exactly as you do, I have a drawer full of these 3blade, 4blade, 5blade, that I have yet to figure out, and get to work right, for me??? the more blades they get the more useless, & clumsy, they seem to be for trimming! Of the powers that be, Isn't anyone listening or paying attention??? K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid)

I have an ancient Gillette adjustable razor with a dial on it for setting the one, and only one, blade exposure. It stilll works better then anything made in the last 20years! But, it's getting harder, & harder, to find ORDINARY single edge injector blades!!!??? and it appears that the no-name (not so sharp) blades usually on occasion, pull the hairs out rather then cut them off. What gets me is, those old large double edge blades, are still very plentiful??? Aside from the old large head double edge razor, (which I tossed out yrs ago) why have these taken presidence (taken over)????

Re: 5 blade razors

I agree they arent worth the price and dont last near as long as they say they will. wife bought a pack and said one would last a month..........oh yea it didnt last a week. The secret though to making any razor last is to make sure it is completly dry after you use it. The blade makers do not want you to know this. A blade that is dryed properly will for sure last much longer.

The finest Swiss straight razor $35. Razor hone $22. Horsehide razor strop with a linen finishing strap, $18. Having all the Boy Scouts at summer camp come by to watch you shave....priceless!:D

A good straight razor will last a lifetime. I have nicked myself far less times with my straight razor than with a "safety" razor.

I have tremors occasionally now to the point I picked up an electric razor for the days I need it, but I think TD has the better idea!

Yeah those multi blade wonders are terrible.

I did find one sample attached to a can of shaving cream that worked great (3 blades ) but have NEVER found one for sale again of the same quality ..... bait and switch.

I still use the twin blade excell with so so results.

Re: 5 blade razors

I really like having a beard. Especially when it is -10 out and having to work on roof top units. However with my present job, the owner/boss lady does not approve of beards so I must stay clean shaven.

I use those twin blade disposables. They do last quiet longer if you rinse them out good and dry them as mentioned.

Awhile back my wife picked up some elcheapo disposables from a dollar store. I was in a hurry one morning and shaved. That morning my wife used one to shave her legs while I had gone to work. People at worked kept asking me "What the heck happened to your face?" It looked like a cat sat on my chest and had a go at my face. Then when I got home, my wife said "Oh, I see you used the bargain brand razor". Then she pointed to her legs. It looked like the same cat tore her legs up too!

She threw the rest into the trash. My BIL (bro in law) saw them and took them home. We didn't know he took them until he came over for a visit. Asked him if he got them from the dollar store,,,,,,,he said "NO,,,,I got them out of your trash". He then stated that he now knows why we threw them away now.

Re: 5 blade razors

Well , I've tried ALOT of razors from simple through 5+ blades. All I leave on my head is my go-tee. So far I've settled on Shick xtreme 3 . They flex very well over my mellon . The 5 bldes didn't flex well - can ya guess how much blood a 5 blade cheese grater lets loose??? the pivot point of the xtreme 3 is on the outer edges most others move then inboard causing less flex IMO.
Usualy get 4-5 good shaves before they start pulling instead of cutting-BTW As much as I like our new stadium , I won't give blood up over it!!!!!:)

If you go from a 3 blade razor to a 5 blade razor of the same pitch, what will be the rpm change at WOT? :D

BTW, if you want a single blade disposable razor, BIC makes one. It comes in a yellow package and is called "BIC Sensitive Shaver." I buy mine at Wally World but I' sure other outlets sell them.

Re: 5 blade razors

I have a bit of a tough beard, & tender skin, one false move, & I'm bleeding with any razor, but I've had good luck with a certain (tough beard) black colored disposable I've tried twice, but can't seem to find anymore  and I can't even remember the name, because I didn't pay that much attention in the 1st place? but, I know it was a brand name, Shick, Gillette, Bic, that came in a 10pack for a reasonable price. Any other disposable to me is like shaving with no blade atall!

Either way, with most razors, I end up getting about 4 shaves to the blade average. I've tried an electric razor, but it never seems to get close enough? although I've recently read your face needs 30days to get used to an electric.

I've also heard that shaving with a straight razor is the best shave of all, but I don't know if I have a steady enough hand, to trust myself with that

I suppose the biggest issues I have is getting a nimble enough razor to trim my sideburns, & around my mustache, & goute.

Re: 5 blade razors

Disposables tear my face up. The double blade models don't work much better for me. I use the 3 or 5 blade ones, whichever has the cheaper blades. It's ridiculous how much the blades cost but you only get one face. I just use what works for me. My face stayed "tore up" until those razors came out. I've been meaning to get one of those shower mirrors. I also use one of those Wahl beard trimmers to keep the ol' goatee in check. I grew a full beard once. With my black hat on I looked like Hank Williams Jr. so yea that had to go lol. :D

I hear these are coming to market soon. Blades will run about $25 each...

I vote for the Gillette Sensor 3. I shave 2-3 times a week, tough beard, sensitive skin, coumadin. Best I've found for a disposable, usually get 6-8 shaves with one
