I have a 5 hp 4 cyl Evinrude motor. I don't intend to sell it but I would like to know if it has any special value. I think it was made back in the 30s or 40s. I knew the man who bought it orginally. He didn't use it much and it is in very good condition.

Re: 5 HP 4 Cyl Evinrude

I believe the Zephyr 5.4 hp. first appeared in 1940 and ran to 49. They are collectable. Many like them because smaller motors are easier to handle.Value depends greatly on condition.I think a lot of these motors were built so not particularly rare though rarity doesn't necessarly increase value. If you watch ebay you may see some Zephyrs change hands and get an idea of the value.

Commander is on track. Zephyr's are great little motors when they are running/tuned right...very smooth.

Thank You for the tips on the value. I figured it would run smooth with 4 cylinders. This one is in very good condition. It has hardly been used.

Wildroot, can you post a couple of pictures to educate the rest of us that don't know about these engines?
