5 hp Sea King steers very hard.

It's a Clinton.....I know they are out of business. Am in need of the spacer rings, 4 are needed. They look like hard rubber or some sort of plastic. I think they are a pressed in fit. They carry the weight of the motor. Mine have apparantly worn out, it's very hard to steer. I think the Eska version uses the same inserts.
I can't think of a substitute replacement. Maybe there is someone who can advise me??

Just a thought --> "O" rings
They're cheap & readily available in any variety of sizes and thicknesses.
They might not wear as well as the OEM parts, but...

That may work, I am also going to look at car crankshaft oil seals, just worried about the weight on the rubber.
Would anybody know of a lubricant for aluminum sliding on rubber??

Hey Brian seriously you relize bad things can happen when your under way and running WOT and the stearing goes out...many time's shear panic strikes and someone gets hurt.
Your part may be rubber I'm not sure what your talking about exactly. Please post your model and engine numbers and if you can post some pictures and we will take a look see to be on the safe side.
