Hi everyone, I just recieved my seaking and was wondering what the carb settings on the motor should be. This is my first outboard with a detached fuell tank so I am not very accustumed to them. Anyhow, I clamped it on the boat, choked it and it fired up. It didn't seem as strong as it should but was running ok. After about 10 minutes of run time I shut it off and at that time noticed that the vent was not opened so I opened it. After this the engine would not start but would only studder for a second or so if I waited a few minutes between pulls. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 5 hp Sea King

Do you have a model # for this Sea king motor? Sea kings were made by several different companies over the years. I Suspect your motor is an OMC model. If so it uses a presurized fuel system. So by venting the tank you released all the presure, hence no fuel. The reason there is a double hose is, one hose marked air, takes presure from the engine and presurizes the tank, the other line marked fuel delivers fuel back the the carb. The primer button on the tank just primes the carb enough to start the engine and build presure in the tank. If your tank is only half full or less you may have to pump the primer a couple of times after starting until it builds enough volume to run on its own.

It's late right now so I can't get the model # untill tomorrow but the motor only uses a single line hose from the tank to the motor. The hose does have a primer bulb and that is to pull fuell to the motor right? Anyhow I'll post the model number tomarrow. Everyone have a nice night and thanks for the help so far.
