I thought I read somewhere that the 70’s T&T’s didn’t crossover into the 80’s models. Is there a crossover chart or rule of thumb that applies to major components? I.e.; powerheads, lower units, T&T’s, carbs etc?

i just picked up a 1976 70hp w/o trim. Would like to add it and know if a few parts motors but I believe they are early-mid 80’s

Late 78 to the early 90s interchange for TNT. Your motor has a different center section so that cannot be used. You will need to find an aftermarket unit like a CMC. The original for yours was probably just a tilt unit and is obsolete. Lower units are 74-76 only unless you get all linkages. As long as the powerhead is a 49 cid motor they will interchange.

Find a midsection from a 79 to 88 ( 49 cubic inch motor ) with power trim / tilt.----Install your powerhead and lower unit on that.-----That is one way and there may be other tricks too.
