50 Amp circuit breaker...? pics attached

Ok, well I must be a moron, because Im not sure how this breaker works....I thought it was a push button breaker that you push if you are going to reset it..?...take a look at the pic, on the left is the old one that I thought was no good, all rusted and I couldnt press the red 50 button in, on the right is the new one, thats basically the same one, just newer, you cant push the button in either.???.

someone help?

Bcause it is already (re)set to go, it pops out on 50A + shortcut, can be that the contacts on the old are corroded away so it mallfunctions bt thats no reason to pop out the button.

I still dont get 100%.....i get that its already set to go.....but isnt the button already popped out?....

The button is in and pops when it overloads. The fact the old one had corrosion is a good idea to replace it but it wasn't necessary.
