I have a 2000 50 H.P. engine that recently has been giving me a serious problem. I had put a new gas gauge in my tank that didn't seem to be reading accurately, so I wanted to check it out so I ran to the bottom of the tank. All of a sudden the engine lost power and would hardly run. I would idle perfect and even run at slow speed adequately, but under any throttle advancement it bogs down. I tried a new supply of gas with Seafoam in a seperate tank. It improved slightly. Did I get water into the carbs? I checked the fuel filter and it is fairly clean. What kind of damage does water in the gas do? Does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do to remedy the situation? Tnanks for any advice. Makky

Rodbolt thanks for the reply. Would the draw tube be between the fuel filter and the carbs? Also if it is the carbs, do they have to be completely removed or is there some cleaning additives that will do the trick. Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Makky

The draw tube is the tube in the tank to which the hose is attached. The only way to properly clean the carbs is to remove, disassemble and soak in cleaner.
