I have jerry/rigged an ignition as I was not given one with the motor. Turns over fine, but no spark at either plug. I was told that I have to make sure the white wire from the magneto gets power to initioate start, but I think this is wrong and it should be the blue wire that needs power. I've cleaned up the points and checked all conections and I have checked the safety switch ect. but no luck...please help don't want to give up on the old girl!!

White is the signal wire for the tach, and blue should be at the positive terminals on each coil. So, yes the blue needs power. Don't quote me here, but I think blue should go to the I terminal on the ignition switch.

Tried that, still no spark, should I test the stator or rectifier, if so how??

If you do believe the stator or rectifier are bad do a search in this forum, I know it has been asked and answered before. I am just not as familiar with testing as the other stuff sorry. However, I think it may be the way you have the ignition switch wired. Can you take a pic or describe what terminals are hooked to what colors etc?

I have wired it by the diagram you supplied me with in an early thread, in order to try to start it, I am connecting the yellow, blue and red wires going to the ignition switch. I haven't bothered with the choke, as the choke soleniod seems to be shot.

check the stator and trigger per the manual. magnet could have become loose or lost magnetism to fire the coils.
