50 HP Johnson rebuild

After reading a number of posts dealing with bad powerheads, I have noticed a trend.
It would seem that the lower cylinder on the OMC motors is way more likely to get damaged
when a problem occurs. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The lower carb is usually the one that gets clogged up when you put it away for storage and don't do it right. Then the cyl leans out when you run it again.
