Hi there. I have a 1966 50 hp that's worn out.

I can pickup cheap a mid seventies powerhead. Don't know the exact year.

Will the new powerhead fit?

thank you

There are basically 2 types of 44 cu.in. powerheads long and short cranks, yours is a long crank meaning that has a belt driven ign. system any long crank engine should bolt but may need minor changes. Your best bet would be a completely dressed engine so if anything is needed you will have it.

Laddies, thanks for your info.

The donor powerhead is on a complete engine with a bad gearcase (short shaft - I need a long shaft).

Does that mean if it's a short crank I should be able to get it to work (assuming it works) because I will have all the "pieces"?

Thanks again.

No, you can still make the change when you have ever thing even to a short crank engine, the short crank is any engine with the 4 coils they shortened the crank as there was on need for the ign. drive pulley and put the new style stator with the trigger under the flywheel.
