Slow down people......

First off we need to know what price range will work for you followed by what will you be watching fast action sports,DVD movies, the news.
Do you have cable is it Digital.?, satellite..?, rabbit ears..?, Do you want HD tv if so where do you live so we can tell you if your local HD channels are avaiable, what kind of lighting will you be viewing from,a basement that's dark all the time or upstairs with a lot of light. How far will you sit from the Tv. Is the width of the Tv important.Do you want Plasma, CRT,LCD,or DLP "which I have and love".
Take your time do a little research I would start here it is the best forum there is for your needs.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=26253b45b0db0a4d551333cbeb44552d&threadid=323602

51" sony HD rear projector widedscreen here, love it. Paid $1350 for it as a floor model a year ago, they're still not under $1500 even now, so I was happy. At the time they were near $2000.

I hear that DLP technology is now a must for projection TVs. It apparently replaces LCD techonology, which I think is still being used in some units.

Hmm, the TV Technology world is apparently in a huge state of flux right now. So many emerging/improving technologies.

LCD is very much alive and is competing against DLP which is a different technology.

Here is a Very good "the best" site to learn more.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/index.php?s=c0ca1cc5579a9c7edd1caf328d533294

Re: 50+ inch televisions?

Guess I'm the only one....60" Mitsubishi bought in 1997 and still as clear as a bell. Just keep the mirror and screen clean and the picture remains sharp. Now my only problem is that I'm spoiled.....no way can I go back to a 25-32 inch screen...my picture in picture is bigger than that(not really) :D
If I replace it I have to go big, othewise what will I do with that HUGE entertainment center that surrounds it.

Dave
